ABOUT US
ScienceWare was founded in 1992 to develop cost-effective and user-friendly Hard- and Software for Scientific applications.
For a decade before that, we gained valuable experience by being part of the award winning Nuclear Fuel Project at the Atomic Energy Corporation. We gained valuable scientific experience in X-ray diffraction, X-ray Fluorescence, Mass Spectrometry, Emission Spectrometry, Atomic Absorption and Physical Metallurgy. We developed a complete integrated laboratory management system using HP mini-computers and peripherals.
We were part of a De Beers research project from 1995 to 2001 to establish the feasibility of detecting large diamonds in Kimberlite, using X-rays. Two International Patents resulted from the research.
Since 1995 we are actively involved in Pavement Surveillance Systems. We developed a number of Road Surveillance Systems, took part in the physical survey procedures, processed the data and developed Visual Systems for the end user.
Since 1999 we established and managed the Canadian ARAN Survey System for BKS. We managed the National Route Surveillance with the ARAN from 1999 to 2003. We also managed, processed and supplied a Visual Management System for the N3 Toll Agency annual surveillance since 1999.
We also managed and/or processed Road Surveillances for Malawi , Namibia , Botswana , Swaziland , Lesotho , Gauteng , Western Cape , Limpopo and the Freestate.
In 2005 we developed an ARAN type Survey System for use in Libya . The system was used to collect 16 000 km data. We processed the data and developed a Visual Database System for the end user.
In 2005/6 we developed a further two system to be used (primarily) on Unpaved Road Networks. The systems were used to collect 24 000 km data in the Limpopo Province and to collect data in the Themibisile-, Emalahleni- and Tshwane municipalities. We further processed the data and developed Visual Database Systems for the end user.
In 2005 we assisted the retrofit of a Heat Treatment Furnace for MacSteel. We developed the interface- and control System.
We have expert experience in the evaluation and calculation of Electronic Road Surveillance Parameters including: International Roughness Index (IRI), Riding Number (RN), PSI, Rut Depth, Rut Width, Average Rut, Rut Area, Mean Profile Depth (MPD), Texture, Radius of Curvature (Vertical, Horizontal), Extrapolation of GPS using other data, Gradient, Cross Fall etc.
